ActivSight™ Imaging Module - Visual Surgical Intelligence
For surgeons in the operating room, the ability to recognize and avoid certain critical organ structures and monitor blood flow is essential to ensure that their patients have the best possible chances of healing and recovering well post-surgery, without facing life-threatening or costly complications. To meet this goal today, surgeons often are left to their own devices, relying on their own experience and skill to complete surgeries successfully. To guide them in the operating room, they depend heavily on what they can see with their own eyes and feel with their own gloved hands. This helps to explain why preventable medical errors—one in four of which stem from surgical errors—are currently responsible for more than 400,000 lives each year in the U.S. at a global cost of $36 billion.
Activ Surgical’s ActivSight™ Imaging Platform offers a better way. It allows surgeons to augment their senses on demand by overlaying colorful maps on the areas they need to operate on. One map, called “ActivPerfusion™ Mode,” for the allows them to “see” subtle and otherwise imperceptible movements that indicate where in the body blood is flowing. The second map, called “ActivICG™ Mode” allows surgeons to visualize critical structures, such as bile ducts, at the push of a button.
Additionally, ActivSight Imaging Platform is designed to work seamlessly with existing commercial surgical systems, such that surgeons and health systems can add this capability to the laparoscopic tools they already use. ActivSight Imaging Platform upgrades existing equipment with two simple components.
Convenient and accessible, the ActivSight Imaging Platform eliminates common barriers to making state-of-the-art advanced visualization the new standard for patient care.
