Intelligent monitoring is the process of tracking and analyzing sensor data in order to detect anomalous behavior. You can use analysis results to create rules to trigger alerts for specific conditions.

SAS® Intelligent Monitoring is an application available from the Azure Marketplace. Engineers can use SAS Intelligent Monitoring to continually monitor an organization’s assets and get alerts when pre-defined conditions occur. This can help with effective scheduling of maintenance and maximum asset uptime.

The process consists of five phases (represented in the diagram below):

• Define the hierarchy of assets and sensors to be used. With pre-defined data in spreadsheet format, select a subset of assets to process.
• Acquire data from these assets and profile them. The resulting profile enables the definition of criteria to apply to the data to be monitored.
• Through the UI, define the logic to define detection criteria in order to monitor incoming data and to generate alerts
• Deploy the logic in the cloud as a project to be run by SAS Event Stream Processing (ESP)
• SAS ESP continuously streams data from the assets and analyses it using the logic defined in the previous steps

The SAS Intelligent Monitoring application is currently available as a private free preview offer. Access to the application will be provided upon request through this 'Contact Me' page. Although the offer is currently being offered as a free preview, you must deploy the application in your own Azure environment and cover any environment-related costs.
