Data Platform Engagement Assessment - 4 Week Assessment

Microsoft’s Solution Assessments are personalized, Microsoft-funded programs* that assess a customer’s data landscape, analyze the deployed environment and provide insights for recommendations. The Data Platform Engagement Assessment is designed for customers who wish to modernize their legacy data platform to one which leverages native Azure services. ​The Assessment provides a plan to modernize the data estate in Azure complete with production ready proof-of-concept, and hands-on training to show the power of data in Azure.

ACTIVITIES TO BE COMPLETED:

1. Alignment to business strategy: Collaborative workshops will discuss: • Business strategy, problems and risks • Existing analytics and reporting platforms • Use cases, and/or opportunity catalogue

2. Gap planning​: Document current pain points, analytics maturity assessment, and the as-is architecture

3. Future state architecture: Create a data optimization strategy, future state architecture based on 1-2

4. Customer workshops Key focus areas for the workshops will be: • Alignment of business strategy to this engagement • Business problems • Reporting toolsets, operating model & development processes • Maturity assessment of data platform • Pain points related to the processes or toolsets • Data security and governance considerations • Current and future reporting use cases and vision (opportunity catalogue) for analytics

Create data optimization strategy for a future state reporting platform based on considerations gathered during workshops, best practices, and relevant Microsoft data platform products/services

KEY DELIVERABLES:

Insights, analysis, recommendations for moving to Azure documented with:​ • Executive summary, customer business objectives ​ • Intended services include, but are not limited to: Azure Synapse, Purview, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL DB, Azure SQL DW, Stream Analytics, Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks​ • Identified business risks – Relating to data and cloud governance.​ • Modernization strategy – Actionable set of data platform and process recommendations, including practices and toolsets based on the selected use case/s.​ • Azure Consumptions estimates & reference architecture ​
