Traceability and Verification System: 0.5-day Briefing
Join us for a half-day briefing on Solidsoft Reply's Traceability and Verification System (TRVST), our innovative solution to combating the proliferation of falsified medicines.
Solidsoft Reply stands at the forefront of medicines verification technology worldwide. Falsified medicines pose a significant threat. They not only jeopardise patient safety but also undermine the efficacy of treatments, exacerbating issues such as antimicrobial resistance and drug-resistant infections. This erodes trust in medications, healthcare providers, and health systems.
With global losses estimated at $200 billion and $30 billion in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), where governance structures and technical capacities are often limited, the urgency to combat falsification is undeniable.
Drawing on our extensive expertise in building medicine verification systems, Solidsoft Reply developed TRVST (pronounced ‘trust’), the world’s first global medicine verification system. We also offer national verification and traceability systems aligned with the WHO’s Handbook on architectural approaches to implementing the digital health supply chain. Powered by Microsoft Azure technologies, our solutions meet GS1 standards (EPCIS, CBV, Digital Links), ensuring traceability across the entire supply chain. They are meticulously designed to support low and middle-income countries (LMICs) in eradicating falsified and diverted medicinal products.
Our solutions revolutionise the verification process, enabling users, such as healthcare workers, regulatory authorities, and customs agents to authenticate medical products in real-time through a user-friendly mobile application. At the heart of our solutions, we implement trustworthy repositories housing vital health product information, including Global Trade Item numbers, serial and batch numbers, as well as production and expiry dates.
Headline benefits include:
• Supply chain traceability: We integrate data from medical product manufacturers, ensuring real-time verification and end-to-end traceability for medical products. This allows organisations to track products throughout the supply chain, offering patients peace of mind about their medicines' origin and safety.
• Mobile-supported verification: Our solutions empower users, including healthcare staff, regulatory authorities, and customs agents, with a user-friendly mobile application for scanning medical product barcodes. This facilitates efficient verification of barcodes on the go, streamlining processes and ensuring timely access to crucial information.
• Robust security and control: We implement rigorous verification controls, ensuring patients have access safe, effective, and quality-assured medicines while maintaining regulatory compliance. Organisations can be sure that every product scanned meets the highest standards of authenticity and reliability.
• Real-time authenticity: Instant alerts are triggered for any verification failures or suspicious activities, promptly notifying manufacturers and regulatory bodies for swift action.
• Leverages Microsoft technology: We harness the power of Microsoft Azure technologies, including Azure Cosmos DB and Azure SQL Database. This ensures unparalleled reliability and security for patients and organisations.
• Seamless access: Our solution uses GS1 Digital Links to simplify the retrieval of critical information and essential data. By scanning the barcode used for authenticity verification, users can access their data in their preferred language, optimising accessibility, and empowering individuals with the information they need, when they need it.
Customer Success:
In July 2022, UNICEF announced a milestone moment in the fight against global counterfeit medicines. Rwanda and Nigeria became the first countries in Africa to authenticate vaccines using GS1 barcoding technology with The Traceability and Verification System (TRVST).
The initiative is the result of a two-year long, multi-stakeholder project partnership composed of UNICEF, Gavi, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Global Fund, USAID, Vital Wave, and the World Bank.
TRVST enhances data sharing efficiency, strengthens data quality, extends visibility, and reduces data capture and transformation costs. It's expected to scale up to routine vaccines and other health products, including those for HIV, tuberculosis, reproductive health, anti-malarial items, and essential medicines.
