Moving SQL Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 workloads to Microsoft Azure
Cobweb’s Database Modernisation services enable businesses to modernise an on-premises database platform by transitioning to Microsoft Azure. With Microsoft having ended support for Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (on 19 July 2019 and 14 January 2020 respectively), and having announced extended support in Microsoft Azure, now is the time to transition an on-premises SQL Server databases to the cloud. End of support means no further updates - including security and bug fixes - while being in the cloud means increased agility, enhanced security generally, and lower costs. Cobweb’s Database Modernisation Discovery Assessment has been created to enable businesses of all size to address problems arising from legacy on-premises IT infrastructure, such as those with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 and facing end of support for these platforms. Based on the output of the assess phase and the agreed target solution, Cobweb will either using rehosting (a simple cost-effective ‘lift and shift’) or refactoring (moving applicable elements of your IT infrastructure to Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions - to move your infrastructure and database workload into Azure.
