Platform Engineering Accelerator: 4-Wk Implementation

The goal of platform engineering is to improve the developer productivity by providing self-service capabilities with automated Azure infrastructure operations.

As part of a this 4-week platform engineering (PE) implementation, customers will realize a strategic platform approach to accelerate the development and delivery of software applications on Microsoft Azure. The engagement will provide a frictionless Azure developer portal and experience that enables developers to provision environments on demand with no overhead. Custome benefits include a "self-serve" portal based on standardized tools, policies, components and automated processes.

ENGAGEMENT OVERVIEW

WEEK 1

  • Business context and goals (technology, governance etc.)
  • ID team structure, Azure management groups
  • Software architecture review(s)

WEEK 2

  • Define and create Azure WAF template attributes (governance, security, CI/CD, DR etc.)
  • Create, configure and test Azure landing zones (e.g., dev/test/prod)
  • Setup, configure and enable team for Developer Portal (GitHub vs ADO)

WEEK 3

  • Pilot Azure portal (1 or more templates)
  • System and infrastructure monitoring

WEEK 4

  • Azure and system validation, audit and recommendations
  • Post-mortem/ project review
