An instance of XenData Cloud File Gateway can run on an Azure VM or a physical Windows machine running on-premises. Each gateway manages a local disk cache for enhanced performance. In a simple configuration with one or more gateways running on Azure VMs, you can run file-based applications in the cloud and take advantage of Azure blob storage.
By adding XenData’s Multi-Site Sync service, files and folders stored in Azure Blob storage may be synchronized across multiple gateways. It provides file sharing across multiple sites and applications running in the cloud, boosting the productivity of distributed teams by enabling them to seamlessly share and synchronize files across all locations. With every gateway kept consistently in sync, users at each facility will think they’re working on one big local file server.
The XenData hybrid cloud storage solution is fully compliant with the Microsoft security model based on Active Directory. Furthermore, it writes to blob storage containers in a standardized way which allows import into the XenData managed global file system of Azure containers created by other standard applications such as Azure Storage Explorer and AzCopy.
XenData gateways are scalable to 2 billion files and are ideal for large unstructured files including video. Each gateway supports partial file restore and video streaming.
