Memcached is an open-source distributed memory object caching system. It speeds up dynamic web applications by alleviating database load. It works as an in-memory store for small chunks of potentially sensitive data, which are the results of database calls, API calls, or page rendering.
Memcached has a vulnerability common to virtually all applications and databases: it stores its data in plain text in memory. An insider can easily scan memory using public scanning tools to gain unfettered access to any sensitive information stored inside Memcached.
Anjuna Enterprise Enclave for Memcached protects cached data and the application itself from memory dump attacks like the one described above. Even when the host is completely compromised, it leverages SGX CPU features data at runtime, at rest and in motion to deliver “hardware grade” data security.
