Oncore!DOCS, powered by Nextcloud is an Azure secured and optimized, open source file sync and share solution designed to be easy-to-use, and completely on your terms.

Oncore!DOCS Tech Specs

The appliance is built on standard opensource software, secured and optimized for Azure:

  • CentOS 7.x
  • PHP 7.2
  • MariaDB 10 (CentOS distributed)
  • Apache 2.4 (CentOS distributed)
  • Nextcloud 19.x

IPTABLES host-level firewall with TCP ports 22, 80, 443 open. Azure Network Security Group with TCP 22, 80 and 443 open assigned to virtual machine NIC 1.

Root has been disabled. To re-enable, simply set a password (e.g. as docsadmin: sudo passwd root).


The base virtual machine is deployed unprovisioned. The administrator must login to initiate a firstrun installation and commissioning process. Firstrun allows administrative accounts to be secured and individual installation parameters customized.

Login via SSH to the public IP address assigned to the deployed Oncore!DOCS instance:

  • Login: docsadmin
  • Password: oncoreDOCS

First run automatically launches on initial login. Press 1 to proceed with installation process. This generally takes a few minutes to complete, after which first run script is removed and instance is fully configured, ready for use.

Once initially provisioned, the virtual machine can be administered as a standard LAMP host. The VM includes certbot for integration with Lets Encrypt SSL certificates, alternatively certificated may be installed manually as per Apache HTTPD documentation.
