6R Method in Detail   In the first step, you looked at your business and IT strategy, using the “IT strategy on a page” template In the next two steps, you need to look at your application landscape and how it maps to your Business objectives as stated in the strategy on a page and how it functionally maps to your business processes. This will result in a list of potential application-related optimization candidates. The application portfolio can be analysed with Cast highlight. rationalisation and cloud readiness is part of this Cast Highlight analysis. Cegeka has a partnership with Cast. Here advice is given how your applications can be best migrated to the Azure Cloud, using Azure PaaS solutions. In the next two steps, you need to look at the infrastructure landscape, identifying potential Rehost & Replatform candidates and analyzing the target (Azure) infrastructure for these candidates (Landing Zone Analysis). In this step the infrastructure is mapped against business strategies and opportunities. Possibilities in roadmap on Applications level

• Application-related optimizations

• Refactor = re-develop applications, via classic coding or via low code development

• Repurchase = replace custom-developed application by SaaS solution, or replace a SaaS by a better one

• Retain = keep

• Retire = decommission applications

• Rehost = lift & shift applications ( to the public cloud)

• Replatform = move applications to another infrastructure platform with slight modifications but without a complete refactor(move to a database-as-a-service or managed container platform)   In the final two steps, you need to prioritize the potential optimization candidates (looking at costs, benefits and risks) and deliver an actionable roadmap – a plan-on-a-page Infrastructure-related optimizations.
