Data Strategy Assessment: 2-wk Assessment

Cegeka NV

The Data Strategy Assessment is a two-week assessment where the current data strategy and ambition of your organization is being analyzed.

The Data Management Association defines data strategy as a set of choices and decisions that together chart a high-level course of action to achieve high-level goals. This strategy includes business plans to use information for a competitive advantage and to support organizational goals.

Due to the informatization of society, more data is available within and surrounding organizations. Organizations are also busy with measuring outcomes and business processes. This has led to data being used as input for strategic decision-making. Complete, up-to-date and high-quality data are necessary for effective governance and the achievement of strategic advantages. An organization can also often make better use of data at a tactical and operational level.

Various departments within an organization benefit directly from the use of data to identify and provide insight into cost reductions and efficiency opportunities. Organizations often recognize the need to use data to their benefit, but often struggle to find the right reasons to do so.

Cegeka is responding to this market demand by introducing the Data Strategy Assessment. This is a two-week lasting assessment of the current strategy and the Data ambition. It consists of the analysis phase, a development phase and a closure phase, of which the analysis phase is solely included in this offering.

Analysis

Cegeka does an analysis on the current situation in the organization through document research, doing interviews with the board or higher management, gathering information about the data ambition and gathering information about the current business strategy. By doing the analysis, Cegeka supports in unraveling the current situation and where the organization wants to stand with their data ambition.

The deliverable of this phase is a data strategy roadmap. The roadmap will present the actions the organization should take with Microsoft Purview to achieve their data ambition. The roadmap will be discussed and presented to the management and the board of the organization.

Development (optional)

In an optional next phase Cegeka will develop the actual data strategy. The data strategy should include the following components:

  • A compelling vision for data management;
  • a summary business case for data management, with selected examples;
  • guiding principles, values, and management perspectives;
  • the mission and long-term directional goals of data management;
  • proposed measures of data management success;
  • short-term (12-24 months) Data Management program objectives that are SMART (specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, time-bound);
  • descriptions of data management roles and organizations, along with a summary of their responsibilities and decision rights;
  • descriptions of Data Management program components and initiatives;
  • a prioritized program of work with scope boundaries;
  • a draft implementation roadmap with projects and action items.

All of these components need to be elaborated before the actual data strategy report can be drawn up. The deliverable in this phase is the Data Strategy Report containg all of the above-mentioned parts.

Closure (Optional)

In this phase the results of the implementation phase will be discussed and presented to the management and the board of the organization.
