Migrate to Azure VMware Solution (AVS)

Emergent Software

Migrate and modernize your infrastructure by seamlessly moving your VMware-based workloads to the Azure cloud with Azure VMware Solution (AVS) and Emergent Software.

Benefits of Azure VMware Solution

Take full advantage of your existing VMware investments while modernizing your infrastructure with a seamless and efficient migration to Azure. By leveraging Azure VMware Solution (AVS), you benefit by continuing to use familiar VMware products and tools including vCenter and vSphere, without additional hardware expenditures or learning new technologies.

  • Maximize your VMware Investments
Take full advantage of your existing VMware investments, skills, and tools, including VMware vSphere, vCenter, and NSX-T.

  • Improve Operational Efficiency
Modernize your VMware infrastructure with centralized management of VMware workloads in Azure.

  • Comprehensive Security & Compliance
Take advantage of Microsoft’s best in class cloud security and utilize Azure tools like Defender for Cloud and Azure Sentinel.

  • Increased Agility & Scalability
Easily scale your VMware clusters and hosts in a private cloud as required for your application workload.

  • Move from CapEx to OpEx
Cloud-based OpEx model can provide significant savings and nearly infinite agility.

  • Quickly Extend your Data Center
Extend your existing VMware infrastructure in your data center to Azure in days.

  • Achieve Disaster Recovery (DR) Goals
Leverage AVS as your VMware disaster recovery solution.

  • Single Pane of Glass for Hybrid Cloud
Centralized security using AVS and Azure Arc-enabled VMware on-premises.

Our Migration Plan using the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF)

Using the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), Emergent Software’s approach will take you through six primary phases. Statements of work (SOW) can be written to include one or more phases.

  1. Discovery & Assessment
    1. Assess current VMware environment
    2. Workload and capacity planning
    3. AVS cluster sizing
    4. Consider VDI – VMware Horizon View, Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), etc.
    5. Hybrid approach – Arc-enabled VMware vSphere
  2. Solution Design
    1. AVS infrastructure – host configuration, networking, and storage
    2. Plan replication process
    3. Review cost estimates
  3. Azure Landing Zone Setup
    1. Azure subscription creation
    2. Determine Azure region
    3. Configure AVS environment
    4. Configure connectivity to on-prem environment
  4. Testing and Validation
    1. Run replication and migration testing on subset of VMs
    2. Successfully demonstrate VM migrations between on-premise vCenter and AVS vCenter
  5. VM Replication & Migration
    1. Migrate (replicate if DR) VMs to AVS using HCX, vMotion, or Azure Migrate
  6. Handoff & Closure
    1. Training session on basic management and maintenance
    2. Provide final implementation documentation
    3. Project closure

Final price is dependent on which phases are included in the SOW and size of the implementation.
