Migrating apps to Microsoft Azure provides scalability, cost savings, increased reliability, and accessibility from anywhere with an internet connection. When you are looking to move your application workloads from on-premise infrastructure, from private clouds, or other public clouds to Azure, Parallo will assess your current application estate and make recommendations for cloud readiness and application migration options.
This assessment includes a 1/2 day workshop, detailed recommendations report, and report presentation.
The recommendations may include a range of areas:
- Assessment: Tools and techniques to evaluate current applications and their dependencies to determine migration readiness.
- Planning: A high-level approach to migrating applications, including selecting relevant Azure cloud services and an estimated migration effort.
- Preparation: Advice on how to configure the cloud environment, including the creation of resources, storage accounts, and network components, and preparing the application for deployment.
- Pricing estimation: Provide an estimate of the proposed migrated architecture using the Azure calculator.
- Migration: Allocate a migration method for each application, such as "lift and shift," re-architecture, or refactoring.
- Testing: Guide how the migrated applications can be tested to ensure they work correctly in the new Azure environment and meet performance and availability requirements.
- Optimisation: Define strategies to optimise the environment once migrated to the cloud that will reduce costs and improve performance, incorporate monitoring, and optimise ways to maintain the applications in Microsoft Azure.
Each workload can be classified as:
- Rehost: migrate resources without any modification.
- Refactor: change the architecture to make better use of cloud services.
- Rebuild: modify the application to take advantage of cloud-native services.
- Replace: use a cloud-based equivalent service instead.
- Retire: decommission an application that is no longer needed.
- Retain: keep an existing application as is without migrating it.
After the assessment, a follow-up Statement of Work can be requested and scheduled, such as:
- Azure Landing Zone Deployment: Design and deploy an architecture that is the foundation for a secure and scalable Azure deployment, providing core components and best practices to accelerate and standardise the environment.
- Azure Cloud Migration: Plan the migration waves and timelines, such as starting with non-critical applications and gradually progressing to complex and critical workloads; prepare the environment by setting up the necessary cloud infrastructure such as storage, and networking, transfer the applications, data, and configurations to the cloud.
- Disaster Recovery: Design a disaster recovery plan to quickly recover systems and data in the event of a disaster, implement backups, replication, and high availability as required, and perform a dry run to test and validate the plan.
- Optimisation: Analyse, tune, and adjust Azure resources and configurations to ensure that applications and workloads run efficiently, and securely by performing tasks such as auto-scaling, right-sizing, and cost optimisation.
