2008 Windows/SQL End of Support Workshop - 2 days

Piksel Inc

Windows 2008 and SQL Server 2008 end of support is looming and Piksel Group's workshop is here to help you understand your options and create an action plan.

If you still have an estate of servers and virtual machines running Windows Server 2008/R2 and SQL Server 2008/R2, then this year sees these products rapidly approach end of support. In July, SQL Server 2008/R2 stops receiving security updates and from January 2020 will see support for Windows Server 2008/R2 end. This leaves services comprising these products non-compliant with regulations such as GDPR, SOX and PCI-DSS, can cause customers to fail ISO 27001 audits and leaves their businesses vulnerable to security attacks and extended business disruption.

Different services and workloads present unique challenges requiring varied approaches, such as performing in place upgrades, tactical replacement or substitution of individual service components, transformation of the entire service using products and services with long term support commitments, migration to Azure where Microsoft offers a further three years of support for 2008 products, or returning to business requirements and fully transforming the service leveraging PaaS or SaaS solutions.

Now is the time to explore options with a partner experienced in consulting, supporting and delivering migration and transformation projects. This workshop identifies and documents the risks that customers' are facing as well as the constraints and dependencies. We will ensure the full range of options available are understood and we work with you to perform an in-depth analysis of your service catalogue to create a strategic roadmap that manages risk, creates opportunity and delivers an optimized service. This can be extended to include proof of concept, implementation and managed services.
