An accelerated discovery and technical assessment to understand your existing data landscape, and create a plan to migrate to a central Azure Data Lake based on the Azure Synapse Analytics platform.

Version 1’s Azure Synapse Data Lake Accelerator helps customers of all shapes and sizes to consolidate data from a wide range of sources and formats and migrate to cloud utilising an Azure Synapse-managed Data Lake. This provides an accelerated foundation for development of a centralised Enterprise Data Warehouse.

With this assessment, organisations can identify the complexities in migrating from multiple platforms to Azure - and put in place a robust plan to navigate the modernisation of their data estates.

This assessment consists of a combination of workshops and code/documentation reviews and is delivered in 3 stages:

Days 1-10: Source Data Assessment:

Some data format and database features do not have a direct replacement in Azure Synapse Analytics. We will use the outputs of this process to review the structure & content of your existing data to help identify:

Days 11-15: Data Process Review:

We will review your existing data processes to understand your data lineage, and the complexity of any business transformations which may need to be applied. We will examine:

  • Data Movement patterns & data volumes
  • Tools in use, infrastructure & support status
  • Schedule & Sequencing
  • Migration Strategy

Days 16-20: BI Platform Audit:

Your existing infrastructure may support a variety of BI / Data Visualisation tools e.g. Power BI, and analytic use cases. We will review the existing estate to understand your current tools and usage patterns. The report will provide:

  • BI Tools in use, infrastructure sizing, support status
  • BI Models & Semantic Layers
  • Report Volumes
  • Information gaps
  • BI Tool upgrade options
  • Migration Roadmap
  • User Communities
  • Usage patterns
