Azure Virtual Desktop: 5-Day Proof of Concept

Yorktel will provide a 5 day proof of concept for deploying Azure Virtual Desktops managed by Nerdio for Enterprise. The POC will demonstrate how to deploy and manage AVD.

Azure Virtual Desktop benefits organizations with existing Microsoft 365 or Windows 10/11 Enterprise licenses. The virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) platform provides Windows users with a familiar desktop experience and uses the built-in Azure management service to provide remote desktop access to multiple users at the same time. AVD also provides users a secure method to access on-premises resources without the use of a client VPN. AVD also integrates with FSLogix profile containers, a profile management solution that enables desktop users to switch seamlessly between virtual machines (VMs) or published applications.

Reduce Costs with Azure Virtual Desktop For organizations with Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies, employees are free to use their own preferred devices. If thin clients are used instead, these are often cheaper compared to traditional desktops. All this means a lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

Deliverables for 5-Day Workshop • Introduction to Azure Virtual Desktops • Review of current Office 365 and Azure tenant to ensure functionality • Creation of Azure VPN tunnel to on-premises environment (if not already in place) • Deployment of Nerdio Manger for MSP or Nerdio Manager for Enterprise for ease of management of the VDI environment • Creation of master image (Windows 10 OR Windows 11) to include installing base software such as Office Pro Plus, Adobe and up to three customer defined applications • Optimization of master image • Deployment of three pools: o Dedicated VMs o Shared VMs o Published Applications (up to 3) • Configure auto-scale and sizing of VM pools
