Azure File Sync Agent for Windows
Microsoft
Installs Azure File Sync agent on Azure Arc-enabled Windows Servers to centralize file shares in Azure Files and provide a quick local cache.
Azure File Sync (AFS) extension that installs the AFS agent on Azure Arc–enabled Windows Servers. It installs three main components:
- FileSyncSvc.exe: The background Windows service responsible for monitoring changes on Server Endpoints and initiating sync sessions to Azure.
- StorageSync.sys: The Azure File Sync file system filter, responsible for tiering cold files to Azure Files (when cloud tiering is enabled).
- Server PowerShell management cmdlet: PowerShell cmdlets can be used to perform management tasks on the server and to help diagnose issues. The cmdlets can be found at the following location (by default): %ProgramFiles%\Azure\StorageSyncAgent\StorageSync.Management.ServerCmdlets.dll
To learn more about Azure File Sync, please refer to the Planning Guide.
- The server must be running a supported operating system version with the latest Windows updates. Check the AFS release notes to see which Windows Server versions are supported.
- The server has an active internet connection to download the Azure File Sync agent.
