Azure based Disaster Recovery Solution

Nviron's Azure cloud-based DR service provides the replication of protected servers into Azure with failover / failback capabilities. This solution addresses the challenge of protecting business critical services in the event of an outage, the cause of which may range from a power outage, a natural disaster or cyberattack.

Whilst the protection of business-critical services is of paramount importance, this is only one aspect of the solution. In the event of the invocation of a DR plan, client access to the recovered services must be readily available. A pre-defined Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment provides client access from any Internet connected web browser or Windows, MacOS, Android or IOS device.

Traditional DR solutions have required a remote site with comms link, deployment of sufficient hardware with capacity to run the production environment and configuration of a replication solution. This often proved to be an expensive model as both production and recovery sites require hardware, power, cooling, licenses and maintenance.

Nviron’s Azure Site Recovery solution will remove the requirement to provision a recovery site and the associated complexity and expense. Resources in Azure will only incur cost when in use. therefore, when a server is replicated into Azure, storage is consumed for disks, but there is no compute charge until there is a failover. Equally, client access is very important and historically, was addressed by sending users to a branch office to connect to the recovered systems running in DR – a particular challenge for single site businesses.

Nviron will configure an AVD environment ready to provision preconfigured VM images as needed. In the event of DR invocation new desktops can be made available for use within a matter of minutes.
