Redis is a Fast, open source in-memory data store for use as a database, cache, message broker, and queue.
Redis is a powerful NoSQL database that is supported by several programming languages such as Java, Go, JavaScript, PHP, Python, and more.
Redis can be used with streaming solutions such as Apache Kafka and Amazon Kinesis as an in memory data store to ingest, process, and analyze real-time data with sub millisecond latency. Redis is an ideal choice for real-time analytics use cases such as social media analytics, ad targeting, personalization, and IoT. It is used as a distributed, in-memory key-value database, cache and message broker, with optional durability. Redis supports different kinds of abstract data structures, such as strings, lists, maps, sets, sorted sets, HyperLogLogs, bitmaps, streams, and spatial indices.
Run the below commands to verify the installation of Redis:
- 1) To check the installed version of Redis: redis-server -v
- 2) To check the status of Redis: sudo systemctl status redis
- 3) To test that Redis is functioning correctly, connect to the server using redis-cli, Redis’s command-line client: redis-cli
- 4) To get back to the shell: exit
