Microsoft Azure Cloud Migration: 6 weeks Assessment

inovex GmbH

Evaluate the feasibility and effort of an Azure Cloud Migration and map out the necessary steps for a successful migration

A successful IT strategy incorporates a suitable data, system and application architecture. In this context, decisions are often made at the cloud provider level (e.g. Azure, AWS) or framework level (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake). Over time the question arises, for various reasons (e.g. costs, efficiency, etc.), if it is feasible to migrate to Microsoft Azure. As a long-standing IT partner of many successful customers, inovex is able to assess the feasibility and effort of such a migration, based on insights of numerous successfully completed projects across industries. With over 500 inovexperts and our integrated portfolio in the fields of application development, data & AI and infrastructure as well as product management, we bring all the necessary competencies to derive the feasibility and map out a successful strategy for a cloud migration. Furthermore, as a solution partner, we have collaborated closely with Microsoft for years, gaining deep expertise in the rapidly evolving Azure ecosystem. Our extensive experience enables us to effectively assist our customers in adopting new technologies. Our Azure experts can provide valuable insights into the benefits of Azure services and design your future architecture aligned with Microsoft's Well-Architected Framework to get the maximum potential.

  • Gaining an overview of the IT landscape, relevant user groups and stakeholders (developers, operations, etc.)
  • Analyzing existing frameworks, tools, data streams, APIs, available skill sets, etc.
  • Documentation and consolidation of the status quo

2. Understanding the use cases and usage profiles

  • Gaining an overview over current as well as future use cases
  • Gaining an overview over future technical requirements such as expected amount of data as well as usage profiles
  • Summary and documentation of the insights gained

3. Map out target architecture & migration strategy

  • Selection of the suitable Azure cloud components
  • Defining APIs within the target architecture
  • Outlining future development and deployment processes
  • Taking into account an own ISMS
  • Documentation of the decision criteria for different Azure components

4. Assessment of migration & operating costs

  • Mapping out the skills needed for the migration and operation
  • Assignment of employees / skills to the different steps in the migration path
  • Calculation of the expected migration costs based on different influencing factors such as services needed, data usages, etc.
