Migrate from SAP BO to Power BI in an automated way, layout and intelligence, for a fixed price.
1. Description of the offer
SAP Business Object has been around for 30 years. Despite its qualities, many prefer Power BI, better integrated with the Cloud and the 365 suite. But SAP BO platforms are complex. Ellipsys has designed an automated migration engine to port an SAP BO platform to Power BI in the Cloud. This engine has been used by major accounts to migrate thousands of SAP BO dashboards
2. Prices and timeline
• Migrations are carried out on a flat-rate basis based on different criteria:
o Number of dashboards to migrate;
o Complexity of dashboards to migrate;
o Possible upstream simplification of the SAP BO platform with our tools.
• The timeline is to be defined according to the volumes and pace projected by the client.
3. Methodology
a) Analysis of SAP BO
{oA-Reverse} collects and organizes detailed information about the design of an SAP BO dashboard, what data is used and how it is presented. The metadata is extracted at the client's site and the analyzes are carried out in the Ellipsys Cloud.
• Intelligence analysis within SAP BO dashboards
o {oA-Reverse} lists Expressions and Variables in SAP BO;
o {oA-Reverse} lists the BO functions used;
o {oA-Reverse} sources each element published in the SAP BO dashboards.
• Analysis of the layout of SAP BO dashboards
o {oA-Reverse} analyzes the structure of dashboards: number of tabs, nested blocks and sections;
o {oA-Reverse} analyzes the number and type of tables (HTable, VTable, XTable), and graphs;
o {oA-Reverse} lists the applied filters.
• Analysis of data sources
o {oA-Reverse} analyzes the contexts used;
o {oA-Reverse} establishes the list of dashboard prompts;
o {oA-Reverse} establishes links between data providers or between statements;
o {oA-Reverse} identifies custom SQL: definition of SQL queries (overload or “freehand SQL”).
b) Migration from SAP BO to Power BI
Transcription is done on Ellipsys servers, then push information into Power BI Online in the customer's Azure Cloud.
• Migration of dashboards and intelligence
o {oA-Reverse} converts objects in each dashboard's data model tables and organizes data preparation to replicate the intelligence of BO documents in SQL.
• Layout migration
o {oA-Reverse} converts the BO layout directly to PBIX which is exported to Azure.
o The organization of the components is also respected.
o The user also benefits from native Power BI features which enrich the user experience.
c) Validation of non-regression
The migration is carried out with great precision, but it is necessary to carry out non-regression tests.
• {oA-Reverse} runs SAP BO dashboards;
• {oA-Reverse} runs Power BI dashboards after technical migration, with similar prompt values;
• {oA-Reverse} performs bulk comparisons with statistical tools.
