Minimal ready-to-use Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.8 Extended Update Support (EUS) Gold Image

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is one of the leading commercial Linux distributions developed by Red Hat, Inc. Reliable and secure, it provides the flexibility of the open-source code and the innovation of the open-source communities.

RHEL Extended Update Support (EUS) enables customers to stay within a specific minor release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) for up to two years, rather than upgrading to the latest RHEL version every six months, allowing for a more stable production environment when necessary.

This is a minimal ready-to-use Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.8 Gold Image version locked to RHEL 8.8 minor version with Extended Update Support (EUS). Mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested, it contains just enough packages to run within Azure, bring up an SSH Server and allow users to login.

Root login is disabled and only the user account specified at launch time is allowed to connect, preferably using ssh public key authentication.

Built using RHEL 8 'Minimal Install' group of packages and a single 30 GiB OS disk. Both root partition and the corresponding filesystem are automatically extended during boot if the selected disk size is bigger than the default one.
