A well-known distributed file system protocol to mount remote directories on servers

Originally developed by Sun Microsystems, NFS Server is run by Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) today. NFS Server is a server application which enables users to mount remote directories on their respective servers. The NFS protocol is one of several distributed file system standards for network-attached storage (NAS).

With NFS Server, the admin can mount full or a part of file system on the server. The mounted partial part of the file system is accessible to clients as per permissions assigned on every file which can be either read-only or read-write rights. The requests between a server and client is routed through Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs).

The NFS Server solution is installed on top of Ubuntu 18.04 installed on Azure. Apps4Rent’s Microsoft-certified engineers have performed tests and proven its operability on Azure successfully.
