Visual Studio images for Azure
Using Visual Studio in an Azure virtual machine (VM) is a quick, easy way to go from nothing to an up-and-running development environment. System images are available for the most recent major versions of VS-2017. On the Plans tab, you’ll see the originally released (aka ‘RTM’) version, and the “latest” updated versions. For each of these different versions, you’ll find the VS Enterprise and VS Community editions.
Microsoft Visual Studio is a suite of tools for creating all types of software through all phases of development – from planning through UI design, coding, testing, debugging, analyzing code quality and performance, deploying to customers, and gathering telemetry on usage. All designed to working together through the Visual Studio Integrated Development Environment (IDE).
End of Support notification: Support for Visual Studio 2017 version 15.0 ends on Jan 14, 2020, which means that we will no longer be issuing Visual Studio images for this product after support ends. Support lifecycle dates are all available on the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy site.
