CentOS 8 Stream

CentOS Stream will be a standalone edition of the distribution that will be rolling-release, receive daily updates, and become a kind of platform for developers.

CentOS Stream exists in parallel with CentOS. What does this mean for the users of the system? No changes are planned. But still, if you are interested in this process, you can take part in promoting corporate Linux and switch to the CentOS Stream distribution.

With a rolling-release distribution, a major release becomes available, and updates are released as they become available. Thus, instead of minor releases, rolling releases simply update packages as soon as they are ready.

• It has the potential of having a great development community.
• This development platform is more agile than the previous one.

CentOS Stream is also really secure. With the standard Linux framework provided by SELinux, security has been one of the main driving forces behind the choice of CentOS.

CentOS Stream is not essentially a replacement for CentOS, but a step towards promoting corporate Linux. CentOS Stream may become an innovation from RHEL in the future.
