Web Application Proxy publishing enables you to access your organization’s applications from your own devices, so that you are not limited to corporate laptops to do the work - you are able to use home computer, tablet, or smartphone. In addition, you are not required to install any additional software on your device to access published applications.

This service acts as a reverse proxy and as an Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS) proxy. In fact, this service replaces the AD FS proxy service.

With the Web Application Proxy, an organization can make on-premises web resources available for external access while at the same time managing the risk of this access by controlling authentication and authorization policies on the AD FS.
