Data Quality, Cataloguing and Lineaging : 10-Wk Implementation

Effective data governance is essential for organizations to manage and protect their data assets. It defines how to handle data throughout its lifecycle by specifying the technologies to use, the processes to deploy, and identifying and assigning the different stakeholders along with their responsibilities. Microsoft Azure provides us with tools to accomlish the above. Sigmoid's work broadly includes the following:

1. Assessing the customer's existing data infrastructure, including sources, schema, metadata, architecture and data quality policies
2. Developing a tailored data governance strategy along with each functional/ Business / regional owner. Azure Purview to be used to unify data governance efforts, automate data discovery, classify data assets, and enforce governance policies across the organization
3. Implementing Azure Data Catalog as a centralized data catalog and metadata management solution to categorize and document data assets across the organization
4. Establishing data quality management processes and tools to monitor, assess, and improve the quality of data across its lifecycle. Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks to be used to enable data integration, transformation and cleansing, thereby improving the quality of the data across the lifecycle
5. Identifying and implementing control mechanisms, integrating with Azure Monitor for real-time monitoring of data quality issues and setting up alerts systems for proactive notification
6. Defining data lifecycle management policies and procedures to govern the creation, storage, retention, and deletion of data in accordance with regulatory and business needs. Azure SQL, with its high availability, scalability, security and performance to act as the centralized store for data management policies

Also to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data through robust security measures, Azure Active Directory to be used for Access control and authorization.
