DLVR Action provides intelligent CDN performance routing resulting in Stream Resilience for every unique stream. Stream Start and Midstream Switching decisions are automated in real time to avoid both large active hazards and small local streaming problems while also triaging traffic towards your business goals. Management of your multi-CDN strategy is built in, making it easy to add, remove, or reprioritize CDNs. Geo-specific percent weighting by CDN and Restricted or Fallback CDN provider designations are all supported. And as DLVR is able to distinguish between and consider access network performance separate from CDN performance, rules based off of a viewer’s access network are also supported.
DLVR Insights is a video play out-to-playback metrics platform that provides unprecedented visibility to video publishers, including Stream Resilience, CDN Management and Workflow Visibility metrics. DLVR measures video publishers' traffic at an individual stream level in order to inform DLVR Action’s multi-CDN performance and business rule optimizations.
Integration & Approach
DLVR Action and DLVR Insights support HLS, DASH and MSS for live event, live linear and video on demand streaming in North America, South America and the European Union. All devices and players are supported while requiring only a light server side integration. There are no client-side SDKs or code of any kind. This makes DLVR not only simple to implement, but also durable – you are free to change your client apps and/or your back-office workflows at any time, with no impact on the optimization and measurement of your Internet video.
To implement DLVR, a video publisher simply points user requests for the video manifest to the DLVR service instead of to their usual CDNs, a simple CNAME change. DLVR reads the manifest to understand how the stream should play. DLVR then configures the manifest to assign the best performing CDN hostname for playback and to add in DLVR heartbeats segments throughout playback. These heartbeat segments are utilized to determine stream playback characteristics, which allows DLVR to distinguish between and calculate the performance of the CDN and the user’s access network. DLVR’s patented services leverage this process in multiple ways that are new, unique and powerful.
Token authentication with cross signing across multiple CDN’s is supported, as are ad insertion products such as Google Ad Manager and YoSpace.
