Organizations typically have hundreds of legacy applications that are hard to operate, difficult to integrate with modern systems or provide a poor user experience. Additionally, they may have security vulnerabilities or may be dependent upon unsupported technology.

When thinking about migrating to Microsoft Azure, it's often hard to understand which apps are cloud-ready and which require changes, and to determine the right approach for each app in your estate.

How we help

In this assessment, Insight experts will work with you to identify legacy applications for modernization and dive into your business objectives, current processes and application ecosystem. Then our experts will employ Insight’s discovery and app rationalization process.

We will leverage scanning tools, surveys and in-depth interviews to understand your app landscape and identify the best-fit migration plan following our 7R methodology (retire, retain, replace, rehost, refactor, rearchitect or re-envision). This will help us craft an overall strategy for your organization that details how best to undergo your modernization to Microsoft Azure.

Prerequisites

To ensure you receive the greatest value from this workshop, you’ll need:

• List of applications with key business and technical stakeholders • Available SMEs with detailed knowledge of app architectures, hardware/software dependencies, system dependencies, security, etc. • Access to architecture diagrams and documentation, if available • Access to app environments, source code and CI/CD pipelines

What to expect

This engagement combines technical evaluation, interviews and analysis to enable us to deliver a thorough assessment with recommendations.

At the end of this assessment, you’ll get a readout that contains:

• A scorecard with recommendations for each app • A count of applications by disposition • A prioritized plan for modernization with cost forecasts and target architectures
