The Data Vault uses Snowflake as its data store for additional extensibility and allows users to onboard data that does not need to conform to traditional financial data models prescribed data model and store that data in Snowflake without having to fit to a particular data model. Using the Data Vault, clients can curate their BNY Mellon data along with their own data to drive value within the firm. This includes support for both Public and Private Data sources which do not need to be native to BNY Mellon.

Through flexible data architecture, clients can rapidly onboard public and private market data and blend financial and non-financial data together. With its open access feature Data Fabric, the platform easily integrates existing information with remote data sets, regardless of their location or implementation details. For example, we have clients with internal data warehouse strategies that leverage Fabric to combine and report on data across their organization, without needing to replicate data. This allows for large datasets to be readily blended, accessed, and experimented on—all while using your business intelligence tools of choice. Our clients choose tools like, Power BI, Instinct, Assette, Tableau, or even an Excel Add-in. Data Catalog: A centralized repository for all your data and metadata. Using the Data Catalog, users can locate data and metadata with a simple but powerful dynamic search interface. It syncs technical metadata, automatically creating schematized tags for business metadata. Furthermore, it connects to and extracts metadata from different sources, providing a unified view of the data wherever it is. It enforces policies, and applies compliance at scale, accelerating speed to data access and analytics securely. Data Catalog provides a graphical representation of the lineage of the data assets, tracing it across its lifecycle. The Catalog is available through our browser-based user interface, and the components can be interfaced externally.

Data Fabric: Collect, connect, and transform data in real-time. By allowing users to blend vast amounts of financial and non-financial data from internal and external data repositories, the Data Fabric connects disparate data sets for analyzing and enables you to gain actionable insights and make more informed decisions.

Reporting: Data Vault provides an enterprise-level solution for delivering all your data through a common data cases framework (Data Fabric). To enable our users to help analyze and visualize the data held within Data Vault, it supports a number of different technologies.

- Visualizations: The solution’s visualization capabilities allow users to explore, experiment, analyze and present their managed data sets. Screeners allow users to create interactive tables with conditional formatting, while dashboards allow users to create dynamic visualizations.

- Third Party Reporting: The Data Vault’s open architecture allows for integration with third-party reporting tools using Data Fabric queries and JDBC/REST connectivity.

- Client Reporting: For more formalized reporting such as Client Reporting and Fund Factsheets, BNY Mellon provides additional functionality through its Report Workflow & Digital Platform Integration solution.
