DUG Insight provides a complete workflow of seismic processing technologies including deblending, noise removal, deghosting and designature, demultiple, data regularisation, imaging and post-migration processing. Insight is reliable and scalable, designed to handle huge, modern datasets from any acquisition geometry, including 2D, 3D and time-lapse – land, marine and ocean bottom – narrow, wide and multi-azimuth – single and multi-sensor datasets. You can also integrate your own existing custom algorithms, while leveraging Insight’s first-class, high-performance processing pipeline. It also includes functionality for real-time, on-board, acquisition QC.
Insight has an extensive imaging toolkit that can handle any subsurface complexity with flexible model-building strategies incorporating a range of technologies including full waveform inversion (FWI) and high-resolution reflection tomography. Conventional and least-squares imaging solutions for both Kirchhoff and reverse time migration (RTM) are also available. As the entire model-building workflow is performed within an interpretation system the user is able to immerse themselves in their data. This includes all picking, velocity model manipulation, and various QC options.
DUG Insight is an interactive system based on a model of "pulling" data through a workflow. Creating a workflow of any number of processes is instantaneous; no work is performed until you actually view the data, and then only enough to process the specific on-screen portion being visualised. You can view the results at any point in the flow, quickly compare multiple datasets, and perform intermediate QCs such as angle stacks and RMS plots.
All displays are linked and dynamic, aware of everything that went into making the visible results. Changing a parameter that affects the process output being viewed (or any earlier process) automatically recomputes what's on-screen. Because Insight computes only what you're viewing, it can run extremely efficiently on a desktop, without the need for batch processing on a cluster or writing output to disk.
In this way, tests that might normally take minutes or hours (creating a new workflow, building a job for the cluster, waiting for it to run, loading the results) instead take seconds, allowing focus to be maintained. Furthermore, you can jump to any location at any time, rather than being limited to pre-computed test lines.
Geoscientists are not necessarily computer scientists, and yet most software requires them to think and act like them. Numerous IT decisions – such as how to sort data on disk and how to split jobs across a cluster are distractions that can add significant project delay when chosen poorly. DUG Insight has been designed so that dealing with memory allocation, job sizes, node and disk management and job preparation are not of concern to the user. The core philosophy of DUG’s software development is that geoscientists should be 100% focused on the science - that is parameterisation, visualisation, analysis and QC.
These all combine to improve not just project timelines, but also project quality. When testing a new process or a different parameter space it is a matter of seconds instead of minutes, which means processors can be much more thorough in much less time.
DUG Insight is designed and built by a single team, producing a functionality-rich yet seamless product. When processing in DUG Insight, your team is operating within a complete interpretation system from the start of the project. Not only does this provide excellent picking, mapping, and related tools, it means you operate in a complete geodetic environment, throughout the project. It also allows processors to incorporate data such as well logs and synthetics, faults, and 3D- and 4D-propagated horizons not normally available in a processing system.
