Chipmunk — Microsoft 365 Offboarding Archiving

Chipmunk is a purpose-built Microsoft 365 offboarding archiving solution that protects valuable user data after employees leave your organization.

When a user account is disabled in Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), Microsoft typically deletes the user’s OneDrive, mailbox, and Teams data within 30–93 days. Without action, critical files, emails, and chat history can be lost permanently—creating compliance risks and disrupting business continuity.

Chipmunk automatically detects disabled accounts and performs a complete archive of the user’s:

• OneDrive: All files and folder structure

• Exchange mailbox: Email, calendar, contacts, attachments

• Microsoft Teams: Chats (export) and shared files

Archives are written to your Azure Blob Storage, so you retain full control within your subscription and region. All folder hierarchies are preserved, and you can search, export, and restore through a simple web interface.

Once Chipmunk has archived a departing user’s content—and the capture is verified—IT can safely deprovision the account and remove the Microsoft 365 license to recoup costs. The data remains in your tenant, searchable and exportable for handover, audit, and eDiscovery, while respecting any applicable legal holds or retention policies.

• Entra ID app registration with Microsoft Graph & EWS permissions (admin consent)

• Existing VNet/Subnet, static IP, DNS entry, and PEM certificate

• Entra ID Group for Administrator access to Chipmunk

• SMTP settings and an email account for Email Alerts
