Control Plane solves a set of problems faced by many organizations that develop and operate micro-services and backend code in general. In most organizations, developers assume DevOps engineers' role, taking on the responsibility of not just the validity of the code but the robustness of its runtime behavior. The Ops portion of DevOps encompasses a broad set of day-2 concerns. These include correctly configuring the collection and correlation of logs and application-specific metrics, particularly across computing environments such as across regions or even clouds and private data centers. Scaling workloads dynamically based on usage, routing callers' requests based on geographical proximity, maintaining an audit trail of any user action, both at the runtime administration plane as well as within the application domain. The Control Plane Secure Communications Agent facilitates secure communications between VPC resources and the Control Plane runtime environment's workloads. In doing so, Control Plane handles many of the Ops concerns associated with running micro-services at scale and in a reliable fashion. The developers can focus on the 'Dev' part of DevOps and leave the 'Ops' part to Control Plane.
