The Cygna Labs Diamond IP Sapphire EMA20 supports monitoring of a pair of IPControl Executives for automated redundancy in the event of a failure. The EMA20 monitors both the primary and backup Executives and applies user defined criteria to assess status and if needed, an automated failover to the standby Executive. The standby Executive maintains a copy of the primary's database and when promoted by the EMA20, can assume control quickly. All deployed DDI appliances and agents can automatically detect the failover and connect to the active Executive for a seamless transition. While not in the critical path for DHCP and DNS transactions, the outage of an Executive can delay DDI changes from being applied. The EMA10 reduces the interval of an Executive outage through automated failover.
