PyTorch is an open-source machine learning (ML) framework and Jupyter Notebook is an open-source web application.
PyTorch is an open-source machine learning (ML) framework based on the Python programming language and the Torch library. PyTorch is a fully featured framework for building deep learning models, which is a type of machine learning that's commonly used in applications like image recognition and language processing. Written in Python, it's relatively easy for most machine learning developers to learn and use.
* To verify that PyTorch has been installed correctly, open a Python shell by typing python in the command prompt or terminal window. Once the Python shell is open, type the following commands:
import torch
print(torch.__version__)
or to verify PyTorch installation run, following command in the command prompt: pip show torch
The Jupyter Notebook (formerly known as IPython notebook) is an open-source web application that allows you to create and share documents that contain live code, equations, visualizations, and narrative text. Uses include data cleaning and transformation, numerical simulation, statistical modeling, data visualization, machine learning, and much more. Jupyter has support for over 40 different programming languages and Python is one of them.
Jupyter notebooks are used for all sorts of data science tasks such as exploratory data analysis (EDA), data cleaning and transformation, data visualization, statistical modeling, machine learning, and deep learning.
* To verify that Jupyter Notebook has been installed correctly, run the following command in the command prompt: jupyter notebook --version
* To start using the installed Jupyter Notebook please follow the below steps:
- 1) First set microsoft edge as your default browser.
- 2) Then run the following command in the command prompt to launch Jupyter Notebook: jupyter notebook
- 3) note: The above command will automatically start the notebook server on your machine if not you may access the notebook server from the browser using http://localhost:8888 link. By default, a notebook server runs locally and is accessible only from localhost.
- 4) Run the following command in the command prompt to know where Jupyter is installed on your computer: where jupyter
- 4) To shut down the server press ctrl+c, the server will stop, to access the notebook server from the browser, keep server running using command (jupyter notebook).
