Linux Stream 9 Basic

Linux Stream 9 Basic is a constantly updated distribution that provides early access to packages being developed for a future release of RHEL. Linux Stream 9 Basic is positioned as an upstream project for RHEL, allowing third parties to control the preparation of packages for RHEL.

The desktop of Linux Stream 9 Basic is based on GNOME 40 (GNOME 3.28 is included in RHEL 8) and the GTK 4 library. It lets you use the power-profiles-daemon controller. It also allows switching between power saving mode, power balance mode, and maximum performance mode on the fly.

The new version's performance has been greatly improved with less memory consumption. Linux Stream 9 Basic includes a new mptcpd daemon for configuring MPTCP (MultiPath TCP), an extension to the TCP protocol for organizing a TCP connection with packet delivery along several routes simultaneously.
