Bluware enables oil and gas companies to move seismic data sets to Azure cloud.
Oil and gas companies are focusing on harnessing the power of the cloud and artificial intelligence to shorten time to discovery, identify which discoveries are feasible to produce, reduce time to first oil, and optimize asset productivity. Some companies have more than 100 petabytes of seismic data, most of which is stored in tape libraries. Simply moving this data to cloud-based archive, does not exploit any of the capabilities that Azure delivers.
Store Seismic Data in Cloud-Native Format
Bluware provides technology called Volume Data Store (VDS), a storage system for seismic data, built natively on Azure blob storage. Seismic surveys can be stored in VDS and distributed across object storage systems. Fast, random access to the data is provided through APIs, rather than copying the data to a virtual workstation. This results in data being quickly streamed directly into applications and workflows. The result is a central data storage system on Azure where clients can access data in real time.
Transfer Seismic Data to the Cloud as it is Acquired
Companies can process seismic survey data earlier and reduce overall exploration time by transmitting data via satellite to Azure cloud using Teleport. This is possible using VDS, which supports high-levels of compression without sacrificing quality. By transferring seismic data while preserving signal quality, particularly seismic amplitude, users can reduce non-productive time and simplify logistics by eliminating physical transportation of data.
Use Seismic Data in the Cloud Without Changing Current Interpretation Tools
Companies can realize the value that this data format can deliver without changing existing geoscience interpretation applications through an innovative data transcoding technology called Flexible Access Storage Transcoding (FAST). FAST allows users to access VDS and stream it from Azure cloud to their interpretation applications, enabling companies to lift and shift legacy applications and workflows to Azure.
Improve Seismic Interpretation Process with an Interactive Deep Learning Approach
InteractivAI deep learning technology can be used to accelerate seismic interpretation workflows. Adaptive streaming technology is applied by sending only the data required for the workflow from Azure cloud to the deep learning process. Live data can be streamed from Azure to the user’s application or workflow in real-time to speed up their interpretation process. Geoscientists can be in full control of their subsurface interpretation results using an interactive approach with simultaneous training, inferencing, and quality control.
