What's New in Debian 13 (Trixie)
Debian 13 introduces several significant updates and improvements across architecture support, security, system tools, and application packages.
RISC-V support: Debian now fully supports the 64-bit RISC-V (riscv64) architecture, joining existing platforms such as amd64, arm64, armel, armhf, ppc64el, s390x, and partially i386.
Security Enhancements: Includes hardening against ROP and COP/JOP attacks using Intel CET and ARM's PAC/BTI for amd64 and arm64. Also adds HTTP Boot support in the installer and live images for systems with UEFI and U-Boot firmware.
Localization & Accessibility: Manual page translations greatly improved for Romanian and Polish via the manpages-l10n project. Qt WebEngine browsers now support spell-checking with Hunspell BDIC binary dictionaries.
System Future-Proofing: Transition to 64-bit time_t
ABI across all architectures (except i386), ensuring compatibility beyond the year 2038.
Reproducible Builds: Byte-for-byte identical builds enabled. Users can check package reproducibility via debian-repro-status
