Mountable Hybrid Image Backup to Azure with BMR

UltraBac Software Inc.

Mountable image backup + BMR + dissimilar hardware restore + copy to Azure for offsite recovery.

UltraBac's image backup technology was first released in 2001 and has continued to evolve to meet the needs of customers ranging from the SMB to Enterprise.  UltraBac's Hybrid Image Backup Solution uses a mountable image format that can be written to any disk or online storage media type.  Image backup is intelligent and while an image can be of every block on disk, a smart operation only backups up disk blocks marked in-use and skips paging and hibernation files to reduce storage requirements.  Backups also can use built-in compression to save on average another 30% of space and offers AES-256 encryption.  Users can set up a schedule of full and incremental backups.  Incremental backups use UltraBac's proprietary technology for capturing only changed blocks (CBT).  With CBT, failed incremental backups are self-healing with the next successful backup correctly creating a point-in-time recovery snapshot with all the changed blocks since the last successful backup.

Backups can be scheduled at any required frequency with no limit to the number of incremental backups between full backups.

With the cloud copy feature enabled, a local backup is first completed so that disks can be unfrozen and system resources released.  Once released then UltraBac copies the backup to Azure for duplicate off-site storage.

To restore a file, folder or partition an Admin accesses UltraBac's UI and mounts the image from either local storage or Azure.  Once mounted any file, folder or partition can be copied using a browser like Edge or Explorer.  To perform a bare metal recovery with or without dissimilar hardware restore an Admin would boot a failed machine using UltraBac's integration with WinPE, mount the image from either local storage or Azure and copy the image back to where ever required.  A BMR operation has two modes of recovery.  Express Mode saves all parameters for restoring to the original location so a restore can be invoked in just a few keystrokes greatly simplifying and streamlining the process.  Advanced Mode enables dissimilar hardware restores, increasing or decreasing partition sizes, and other advanced features that require a higher level of Admin expertise.

With UltraBac, the only difference between on-premise and Azure based file/folder/partition restore or a full-blown bare metal disaster recovery (with or without dissimilar hardware) is speed.
