Important notes:

  • You will need to open the TCP ports 80, 443 from Your Azure Portal AFTER you finish setting up the database connection
  • Once the deployment of the VM is finished you should configure the db connection by opening the TCP port 80 from your Azure Portal and connecting to public IP of the VM
  • [allow the access to port 80 for your IP only and once you set up th DB connection you can allow access for the entire internet]
  • To access phpmyadmin type 'ssh -L 8080:127.0.0.1:8080 user@1.2.3.4' replacing user@1.2.3.4 with your own user and public IP and then access phpmyadmin at '127.0.0.1:8080'.
  • Friendly advice: Do not open the port 8080 to the entire internet as the port 8080 is for phpmyadmin
  • To get a certificate Use the this command when you ssh into the VM 'sudo bash ~/getcert.sh'
  • The database name should be 'wordpress', The db username should be 'wordpressuser, And the password should be in the file named 'dbwppass' at the home folder when you ssh into the VM
