GDD calculation for identifying key timing of variables affecting crop growth, health, and output.
This Bayer AgPowered Service provides access to Growing Degree Day calculation that is typically utilized to estimate the growth and development of plants, plant diseases, and insects during the growing season.
Generate a single accumulated GDD value from a given start date, typically the planting date, through an end date. The algorithm will also use the following inputs: specified latitude, longitude, and crop type.
Current data set provides access to the past 2 years’ worth of historical GDD data.
Supported crops include Corn, Soybean, Wheat, Canola, Cotton, & Sugar beets.
The backend data source consists of a mixture of IBM, ECMWF and proprietary Bayer weather datasets. The base geographical coverage is sourced primarily from NASA’s Global Food Security Support Analysis Data (GFSAD) Crop Dominance Global 1km dataset and global corn Macro-Environment Zones datasets. Geographies supported include: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Belgium, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Canada, Central African Republic, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lithuania, Malawi, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
