This is a pack of 3 DevOps Oriented Tools which are Docker Engine (using binaries), Apache Maven and Terraform on Windows Server2019

Docker Engine (using binaries) is an open-source platform for developers and system administrators to build, run, and share applications with containers. Containerization (the use of containers to deploy applications) is becoming popular because containers are flexible, lightweight, portable, loosely coupled, scalable, and more secure.

Docker daemon is installed on Windows Server which allows you to run Windows containers only. When you install the Docker daemon on Windows Server, the daemon does not contain Docker components such as buildx and compose. Binary packages on Windows include both dockerd.exe and docker.exe. On Windows, these binaries only provide the ability to run native Windows containers (not Linux containers).

Apache Maven is a software application management and build automation platform based on the conception of a project object model (POM), which is especially used for deploying Java-based projects but can also be used on applications written in Ruby and other programming languages.

Terraform (infrastructure as code tool)

Run the below commands in the command prompt to verify the installed version of all the tools:

  • 1) docker --version : To check the installed version of Docker
  • 2) mvn --version : To check the installed version of Apache maven
  • 3) java --version : To check the installed version of Java
  • 5) terraform --version : To check the installed version of Terraform
