Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS Minimal

Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS Minimal is a set of Ubuntu images designed for automated deployment at scale and made available on Azure. It uses the optimised kernels and optimised boot process on its target compute substrate.

Specially hardened for quick deployment on Azure, secure and pre-configured solution from Tidal Media Inc. is an official Ubuntu release, performing on pre-installed images that have been customized to have a small runtime footprint in order to increase workload density in environments where humans are not expected to log in.

Ubuntu Minimal has full support for installing from the Ubuntu archive. It has access to the same breadth of software, and the same excellent security maintenance, as the regular server images. Combined with full snap support, anything you can do with the regular Ubuntu images, you can do with the minimal images.

Additionally, it is optimized for cloud hypervisors images and contains the kernel for each cloud and supporting boot utilities.
