Service Management and Orchestration for O-RAN 5G Network Functions
Aarna offers comprehensive service management and orchestration for O-RAN network functions
The Aarna Networks Multi-Cluster Orchestration Platform (AMCOP) is an open-source orchestration, lifecycle management, and real time policy-driven closed loop automation platform for cloud-native 5G network services and edge computing applications.
In this use case, AMCOP is being used as a comprehensive Service Management Orchestration (SMO) component as specified by the O-RAN Alliance specifications. Essentially, the SMO is the most critical component for supporting and managing a disaggregated multi-vendor RAN environment.
What is AMCOP O-RAN SMO?
AMCOP O-RAN SMO is a cloud-native application that can be used to orchestrate and manage O-RAN network functions (CU, DU, RU) CNFs or CNAs. It can be deployed on the Azure cloud and can be used to orchestrate other cloud-native functions or MEC applications running on either Azure cloud or on-premises.
Key features and benefits
Aarna’s AMCOP O-RAN SMO is ideal for today’s rapidly evolving network environments:
- Vendor Neutral: We don’t build any O-RAN network functions, so are 100% neutral
- Cloud-Native: AMCOP is optimized for cloud-native O-RAN network functions (it is also a cloud-native application)
- Comprehensive O-RAN SMO support: We support cloud management, VNF/CNF orchestration, lifecycle management, and closed-loop automation/FCAPS
- Lightweight and easy-to-use: Low CPU/memory footprint and easy to install, maintain, and use
- Open Source: Based on the O-RAN work done by the Linux Foundation Networking and O-RAN Software Community communities
- Standards Aligned: We support O1, A1, Open Fronthaul M-Plane, pre-standards R1, slicing, and K8s centric pre-standards O2
