Ubuntu 21.04 LTS

Ubuntu has established itself as the enterprise engineering platform of choice, from the desktop to public cloud and microservices, with a wide range of corporate adopters in the finance, automotive, tech and government sectors.

Updated versions of many apps are available in 21.04, including the latest versions of Mozilla Firefox, Thunderbird, and LibreOffice.

There are subtle visual changes here and there, a few performance improvements, newer versions of popular software and libraries in the official repository along with the addition of a couple of new features.

Also, Ubuntu’s enterprise users can now connect to an Active Directory (AD) domain for managed configuration through a Group Policy Client. This feature allows system admins to set security, password, and user access controls, and configure settings like desktop background, default apps, and more, centrally.

Ubuntu 21.04 comes with a new desktop icons implementation. This extension restores back drag-and-drop support to and from the file manager (and other apps). It also boasts a raft of additional settings so that you curate an Ubuntu desktop experience that suits your needs.
