How does it work?

Z1 SecureMail Gateway uses the PKI standards S/MIME and OpenPGP for email encryption and digital signing. The Gateway automatically en/decrypts all inbound and outbound emails whilst at the same time managing all the keys for internal and external users. This solves the main challenge in the efficient operation of PKI based email encryption.

For communication partners who don’t have a PKI, messages are delivered automatically using keyless password based encryption. The highly flexible Z1 Messenger component provides instantaneous secure email exchange with any recipient. No additional software or plugins are required at the recipient's end.

Don’t worry about personal liability in IT compliance issues. With Z1 SecureMail Gateway policies there won’t be any compliance violations due to accidental misuse or forgotten encryption operations. All security actions are traceable through always-on logging and monitoring in the graphical administration web interface.

In some cases SMTP is not supported by default. If the email delivery of the Z1 SecureMail Gateway fails, please contact Microsoft Support to enable SMTP support for your virtual instance.
