Micromail Managed Service

Micromail has a detailed understanding of Azure cost management and will assess and make recommendations in optimal cost management of your Azure workloads in the following:

  • Configure budget utilization and alerts in Azure Cost Management.
  • Keep Azure resources clean and tidy using Resource Groups
  • Delete unnecessary resources
  • Research Azure region pricing for services before stretching the applications to Azure regions.
  • Use Azure Storage SMB file shares
  • Dev/Test Labs should be used for development and test environments
  • De-allocate virtual machines when they’re not in use
  • Use the Auto-shutdown feature for your virtual machines
  • Configure Azure Automation to automate repetitive tasks.

The Azure Migrate service assesses migration suitability of on-premises machines, performs performance-based sizing and provides cost estimations for running on-premises machines in Azure. It can also deliver dependency mapping for selected on-premises machines and create groups of machines that should be assessed and migrated together. It’s important to consider the following migration paths that you can choose from for your virtual machines and web applications:

  • Rehost: Also known as ‘lift-and-shift’, this option works best when you want to migrate
  • on-premises physical or virtual machines to the cloud and transform them into Azure
  • Virtual Machines
  • Refactor: This option is where you might take the opportunity to refactor your
  • applications into lightweight containers and this works well with legacy line-of business workloads
  • Rearchitect: If you want to take the opportunity to rearchitect your applications to leverage some of the more advanced technologies Azure has to offer around scalability, performance, and resilience, then this is the option to consider.
  • Rebuild: In some scenarios, you might want to either upgrade or completely rebuild the operating systems and software versions that your applications run on as part of their migration to Azure and this option fits that requirement nicely.
