Minimal ready-to-use Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.9 Generation 2 Gold Image

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) is one of the leading commercial Linux distributions developed by Red Hat, Inc. Reliable and secure, it provides the flexibility of the open-source code and the innovation of the open-source communities.

Generation 2 virtual machines (Gen2 VMs) use the new UEFI-based boot architecture instead of BIOS-based architecture and have a simplified virtual hardware model and improved boot and installation times.

This is a minimal ready-to-use Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.9 Generation 2 Gold Image, mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested. It contains just enough packages to run within Azure, bring up an SSH Server and allow users to login.

Root login is disabled and only the user account specified at launch time is allowed to connect, preferably using ssh public key authentication.

Built using RHEL 8.9 'Minimal Install' group of packages and a single 30 GiB OS disk. Both root partition and the corresponding filesystem are automatically extended during boot if the selected disk size is bigger than the default one.
