Minimal ready to use RHEL 8.0 image

This is a minimal ready to use Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8.0 image. Based on the official RHEL 8.0 Binary DVD ISO image, it is mainly used as a common base system on top of which other appliances could be built and tested. Root login is disabled and only the user account specified at launch time is allowed to connect, preferably using ssh public key authentication.

No RHEL 8 subscription required

All our Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8 images are integrated with the Azure-hosted RHUI (RedHat Update Infrastructure), that allows the installation of new RPM packages and updates without the need of a separate RHEL8 subscription.

Minimal RHEL 8 installation

This image is built using RedHat8 'Minimal Install' group of packages and a single 30 GiB OS disk. It contains just enough packages to run within Azure, bring up a SSH Server and allow users to login. Cloud-init is included. SELinux is enabled.

Root filesystem automatically extends during boot

In this RHEL8 image, root partition and filesystem extends automatically during boot if the OS disk size is bigger than the default one. Using GPT (GUID Partition Table) instead of MBR (Master Boot Record), that allows usage of OS disks bigger than 2 TiB in size.
